I tattoo your photo as it is, not my interpretation or drawing of it. At most, I remove the background.
I don't leave you on your own
30 days later you send me a photo of how it has healed and we look at it together. If anything needs a touch up, it is free of charge.
Pet portrait tattoo artist in Barcelona
I'm Maxi Carreras, a tattoo artist specialising in micro realism pet portraits.
I started tattooing in 2016 in Rosario, my hometown, and tried many styles until I found the one I'm truly passionate about: portraits of other people's pets. For over 5 years it's all I have tattooed.
That path took me to tattoo in Miami and New York, and today I'm the co-founder of two studios, in Rosario and in New York. My base is Barcelona: I'm a resident artist at Giza Studio, in the Gràcia neighbourhood, and I travel as a guest artist several times a year.
I've done more than 1,000 small, black and grey portraits of dogs, cats and all kinds of pets: some of companions who are still at home, others memorial tattoos for those who are gone. All I need is one photo of them. I work in Spanish and English.

I send you the days I have free and you book your appointment with a €100 deposit.

Take your portrait home
You come to Giza Studio, I tattoo your photo just as it is and you leave with your pet on your skin.

What people ask me most
How much does a pet portrait tattoo cost in Barcelona?
With Maxi Carreras, one portrait costs €400. If you get more than one on yourself, each portrait comes at a better price. It's a fixed price in euros, and you book your date with a €100 deposit.
What kind of photo of my pet do you need?
A sharp, well lit photo. If you only have a poor quality one, send it anyway: I will see if I can improve it so it can be tattooed.
Do you tattoo pets who have passed away?
Yes. All I need is a photo of them, even an old one. If it is not very good, I check it before giving you a date.
Do I see a design before the appointment?
There is no need: because it is realism, the portrait is your photo exactly as it is. At most, I remove the background.
Do you do pet portraits in colour?
No. I only do small, realistic pet portraits in black and grey.
